School Direct is a route into the teaching profession which puts schools at the heart of the training process. As lead schools in the Anglian Gateway Teaching School Alliance, we work closely with a growing partnership of schools and our ITT provider to develop successful highly motivated teachers for the future.
Our joint mission with our ITT provider is to recruit and retain high quality candidates into teaching to meet the needs of our locality as well as nationally. We provide personalised programmes which are delivered by excellent classroom practitioners and specialist leaders of education.
We are offering places on the salaried and non-salaried School Direct training programmes for both primary and secondary.
If you want your initial teacher training to put theory into practice, to gain confidence with increasing classroom experience and to benefit from the skills of experienced successful practitioners then this one year school centred training programme is worthy of consideration.

Being a teacher is exceptionally rewarding and can often be challenging. To help you make your decision about applying, it is invaluable to gain experience in a teaching environment. Our ITT provider has a minimum requirement of five days in-school experience for your application to be eligible.
Be proactive: there are many ways to gain this experience.
- Register for the School Experience Programme with the DfE: http://www.education.gov.uk/get-into-teaching/school-experience/sep.aspx if you are intersted in teaching.
- Make contact with your local schools or speak to people you already know within secondary or primary schools, to arrange observation days or shadow a teacher
- If you are not working full time, apply for any school-based positions; School Direct applicants will often have worked as a classroom cover supervisor or teaching assistant before applying for a teacher training programme
Such work experience will both confirm your decision to apply and strengthen your eventual application, showing your commitment and dedication to your chosen career path.
All applications for teacher training are made via UCAS. For more information and to apply please follow the link www.ucas.com/apply/teacher-training. Our Alliance details and courses on offer can be found under UCAS code 1JD
