Portfolio of experience, skills, knowledge.

I have worked as Assistant Principal at Bottisham Village College since 2010, leading various aspects of whole-college development such as Quality of Teaching, Assessment for Learning, Student Development and Examinations.  Previous to my appointment as Assistant Principal I worked as Head of Science, also at Bottisham Village College, for 5 years.
In my role as Head of Science, we successfully applied to act as a consultant science department; I led the support of a science department in a local school, with particular focus on KS3 curriculum and assessment. More recently, I supported another local school in reviewing their Quality of Teaching and developing self-evaluation practices in this area.  I have also shared our experience of an OFSTED inspection with practitioners in other schools. I am now leading in various aspects of staff development, overseeing teacher training, NQT induction, teacher appraisal and CPD.

Portfolio of experience, skills, knowledge.

I have worked at Netherhall School and Sixth Form since 2015 and before that in London. During my career I have worked as a Raising Standards leader, Head of Science, Head of Year and Head of Teaching and Learning.

My experience centres primarily on supporting departments and individual teachers to improve outcomes for students, particularly around GCSE results.  I have successfully worked with Science departments facing particular challenges and with teachers working to improve specific aspects of their practice. My particular area of interest is in building successful structures for learning that produce consistency of experience for students, with regard to teaching and learning across a department. I have worked with partner schools to develop new heads of department and to develop stronger teams around them. I have researched how alterations to school policy is best adapted to enable rapid acceptance and implementation by staff and students and remain interested in the psychology of change that was the centre of this work.
