Portfolio of experience, skills, knowledge.

I have worked as Deputy Principal at Bottisham Village College since April 2015, with a focus on whole-school achievement and raising standards.
After having worked as an SLE on a number of deployments, I am particularly interested in the way in which raising standards in English can lead to whole-school change. Additionally, I will be supporting schools in the way that they can track students using the new performance measures and ensure that their intervention routines are both efficient and effective.

Portfolio of experience, skills and knowledge:

I have worked at Bottisham Village College since 2007 and took over as Head of English in February this year. I lead an outstanding team of experienced and passionate teachers and am currently leading them through the new changes to GCSE.

I am responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the curriculum at KS3 and KS4 are engaging, enriching and support the development of those skills that enable students to make progress across both key stages. I am responsible leading the re-shaping of the KS3 curriculum to ensure that it fully prepares students for the changing landscape of the new GCSE.

A particular interest of mine is the nurturing and development of training teachers and those new to the profession and my current SLE role has allowed me to branch out and work as part of the Anglian Gateway Teaching Schools Alliance, delivering a number of whole day sessions to trainee teachers as part of their professional development as teachers. A most rewarding and enriching part of my role.

Portfolio of experience, skills and knowledge

I worked as a Head of English for five years, leading a relatively inexperienced English team and developing schemes of work and focusing on careful tracking and monitoring. I have experience in helping C/D borderline students, using a range of strategies to identify weaknesses and provide appropriate support. I am also interested in using media and technology to motivate boys to write.

I currently work as assistant principal at Bassingbourn Village College. My duties include monitoring pupil premium. I track the progress of Pupil Premium students, distribute funds and organise and run focused intervention sessions. I am passionate about finding the most effective strategies to help Pupil Premium students close the gap with other students.
