SLE designated specialism: Merging the EYFSP and the Curriculum
Kettlefields Primary (currently on maternity leave)
Portfolio of experience, skills, knowledge
I have been the Foundation Stage Leader at Kettlefields Primary School since 2010, leading the development of the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile(EYFSP) and the curriculum in Key Stage One; these changes resulted in an Outstanding Ofsted judgement in 2011. Before that I worked in a Special School.
A particular strength of mine is creating inspiring, creative methods of teaching both the EYFSP and the Key Stage One Curriculum to ensure all children are being motivated and challenged in order for all children to make the progress they are capable of. Outdoor learning, communication and language, physical development and personal, social and emotional skills are just some of the crucial aspects considered when planning and teaching a unit of work as well as what the children themselves are inspired by.
I can lead others in the use of Target Tracker in the EYFS; highlighting the assessment and moderations benefits to ensure all children are achieving their full potential.
I can also work with teachers to create and embed an 'Early Years Team' ethos within settings, where all members (Teacher & Support Staff) are considered valued and crucial in the assessment, observation and next steps for the children.
